Little gem for lunch

Wow, what wonderful service we recieved when we popped in for a light lunch before the theatre !! Great menu, soups, pasta , sandwiches and more and all very reasonably priced. The home made soup was fab, the staff advised would change dishes to suit the children. Lovely ambience. Would definately recommend.

Epic Charity Event

Firstly I'd like to introduce myself, my name is Matthew Taylor, I work for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency in Southampton, I'm also an Instructor at the Jason Boh School Of Martial Arts (Enterprise Centre Portsmouth).I recently received the sad news that my best friend has been diagnosed terminally ill with cancer. This has been quite a shock as he has always been such a strong figure of a man, what one would call a man's man. He is a master carpenter of 30 years, never had a day sick and always happy to help out those that needed it, he never moans or complains just accepts what life has to offer, truly a great person and best friend. 13 years ago I was honoured when I was asked to be god father to his daughter, you never imagine that one day you will actually have to step up to the plate. His daughter (my god daughter) recently completed a 10,000 meter swim-a-thon with Portsea North Swimming Club, to raise money for Cancer research and McMillan's Nurses, I too am planning on a charity event. In September 2015 I'm planning on cycling the Southern Alps, 650 miles in total, starting with the famous Alp D'Huez route of the Tour De France. Now I know this seems like a long time away, however understanding this challenge I know that this requires serious dedication and commitment to the training required to be able to complete this ride. I would just like to state that this is not a government sponsored event and will be paid for completely by myself. What I would like to request, is a donation from you and/or your Company; whatever you can for Cancer Research. My target is to raise £10,000, this amount will give a person an extenstion on their life and in some cases a fighting chance to beat Cancer. I will be calling on local and regional media, to see if they wish to run this story and I will also be requesting that the names of all Companies and supporters of this event are acknowledged as I feel it's important to recognise all support. Now here's the big ask, if any Company would like to advertise their logo then please contact me as I will be having all my cycling clothing logo'ed for training and for the ride itself. All I ask for is a small donation - I will be covering the cost of my own custom cycling clothing. My training routes can be found on my Map My Ride profile (AgentBarrett) anyone wishing to join me for a days intensive training consisting of rides between 40 and 100 miles; duration ranging from 2.5 to 6.5 hours; or even just to give moral support then come along your more than welcome! If your interested in joining me through the Alps let me know and I can find out what the costs would be, as a ball park figure its around £2,500 per person for 10 days.So please dig deep and donate now :)Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Just Text Giving is simple No:70070 text: MRDC51 £1 if your a tax payer and have a smart phone follow the link and the good old tax man will have to gift aid in as well :)

As more and more poeple are being effected by cancer in one way or another, i would like to ask for a couple of minutes of your time and please read my page below, and if your able to please donate just £1.

if not then please forward this link and story onto others, either way your help and time is greatfully recieved and i wish i could give all a massive hug of thanks but im a tad busy training.

best regards and much love.

Pricing.....on the up! and some other stuff 8-)

A couple of things you may or may not be interested in...

1. The bad news is that we have to adjust some of our prices 8-(. Not on everything but on the milk products and raw goods (vegetables and products that we use to make stuff).  The soups will see a rise and also the coffee (latte/cappucino).  The soups are the first and will be effective as of 19th Feb.

2. For those of you that venture into the shop you can't not have noticed that our door is a NIGHTMARE! Loud and bangy, if it shuts at all we're lucky.  But that is being fixed tomorrow (19th). Yayyy 8-)

3. We will soon be having a scaffold monstrosity erected the length of the shop front.  This is a long time coming but it will be to fix an annoying leak that has been penetrating above the window leaving unsightly lime tracks as well as streaming down a wall in the shop. Once this is done and dry we can crack on with a bit of a paint job and freshen up! And after the weekly window clean they'll remain clean for the whole week.

4. THIS IS GOSSIP!!!! So, the shop on the corner (where the ladies gym was) has been let! Brill...we don't want empty shops around here they make a place look like its dying (so Mary Portas says and I tend to agree with much of what she does say). So what's it to be, what's it to be??? Well, I thought it was going to be a wheel shop like it used to be but that was derived from the name on the planning application. But, apparently, it is going to be an electric bike shop! Very postmodern for Commercial Road! Anyway, lets hope the lease goes through and it's open soon.

The New Year!

We're back from hols rested and raring to go...

Last year was a good year for us regarding the support we have received from our area.

As with all businesses akin to ours the same effort goes into feeding one person as it does 100's.

More and more people have recognised that our difference is we do actually make our hot food here, prepare our paninis and purposely cater for our veggies every day.  We don't buy in sandwich fillings, or ready made paninis, or soups.

We don't scrimp on cost when it comes to ingredients or the volumn we use to create the product.

We don't charge as much as other businesses in the area (who may or may not offer a better or lesser product) but we want to be an everyday cafe.  A cafe that you can afford to come to everyday and get good wholesome food for a good price.

I'll continue with later...I want a coffee now 8-)
